The Most Important Love Story Is the One You Build With Yourself.
And Why Getting That One Right Changes Every Other One

I used to think self-love was a destination.
Something you arrived at after enough therapy, enough journaling, enough positive affirmations taped to enough bathroom mirrors. Something you earned by doing enough work on yourself that you finally crossed some invisible threshold and became a woman who loved herself fully.
Day 69 of The Unweaving. And what I understand now — from inside the experience of actually doing the work, not just reading about it — is that self-love is not a destination. It is a practice. A daily, sometimes hourly, choice to treat yourself with the same care, honesty, and generosity you would extend to someone you love deeply.
What Getting It Wrong Looks Like
The Return Before the Ready, Without Leaving Myself is honest about what happens when a woman has not yet built a solid relationship with herself before she enters a relationship with someone else. Not because she is weak or foolish — but because the world does not teach women to prioritize the relationship with themselves. It teaches them to prioritize the relationships around them.
And so she enters love before she has fully returned to herself. Before the recognition is complete. Before the reclamation has had time to settle. And what follows is the specific reckoning documented in Part Two of that memoir — the moment when love arrives before you are ready and you have to decide whether you will hold your ground or give yourself away again.
What Getting It Right Looks Like
Getting it right looks like the season I am in now. Day 69. The new encounters arriving are meeting a woman who knows who she is. Who has done the recognition. Who has reclaimed what was taken. Who is in the active, daily practice of restoration — returning herself to her truest, most whole self.
And the connections built in this season are different. They are built on something real — on the specific, grounded, unhurried quality that comes when a woman is no longer performing herself for someone else’s approval. When she is simply present, fully, as herself.
Love and the W.E.B. Framework
The W.E.B. Methodology™ treats self-love as a Wellness imperative — not a luxury, not a trend, but a structural requirement for sustainable leadership, business ownership, and community engagement. A woman who does not love herself well will eventually deplete herself in service of everything and everyone around her. A woman who does love herself well builds from fullness rather than from deficit.
Before It Follows You positions self-love even earlier — in the season of formation, when a young woman is still deciding what she will accept as love and what she will name as something else. The young woman who learns to love herself before the world teaches her to negotiate that love away is the young woman who builds every subsequent relationship from a place of genuine agency.
The most important love story is the one you build with yourself. And it is never too late — or too early — to begin.
