Founder Story: Dr. Shanelle R. Dawson
The Woman Behind The Movement
My journey did not begin with a business plan or a strategic blueprint—it began with a deep passion for people, justice, and the belief that transformation is possible when individuals are given the tools, support, and freedom to thrive.
Most people assume my story begins with education. In truth, entrepreneurship came first, long before I imagined leading a movement that integrates wellness, equity, and business into one powerful ecosystem.
The Early Years: Planting the Seeds of Purpose
In 2007, while completing my dissertation, I felt a pull toward entrepreneurship. I didn’t yet know what form it would take, but I knew I wanted to build something that centered people—something that elevated voices and challenged systems.
By 2010, I opened my first company and stepped into the world of educational consulting. I traveled the country working with school districts, leading difficult yet necessary conversations about equity, culturally responsive practices, and educational justice. My work was effective and impactful—but it was also emotionally demanding.
Equity work often requires walking into rooms where truth is unwelcome, misunderstood, or misinterpreted. The emotional labor was real, and over time, it began to take a toll.
A Return to Wellness
Before the degrees, the consulting, and the national speaking engagements, there was wellness.
I lived in the gym.
I prioritized my health.
I dreamed of becoming a personal trainer.
Though my career shifted into education and leadership, wellness never left—it simply waited in the background, reminding me of who I was before titles and expectations entered the picture.
But life has its own seasons.
During a particularly challenging personal period, I stepped away from everything—my speaking, my writing, and my passions. For the first time, even the thought of business made me physically ill. I met with my therapist regularly but couldn’t bring myself to talk about entrepreneurship. I wasn’t ready.
Then one night, at 3 a.m., everything changed.
In the quiet of that early morning, I felt God’s voice nudging me awake: Listen.
I asked myself, What do you want? What is your purpose now?
By sunrise, I knew—with absolute clarity—that I was ready to return. But not to what I had built before. I needed something new, something aligned, something whole.
That moment was the beginning of the W.E.B. Framework™.
The Birth of W.E.B.™
Years earlier, I had sketched out the idea of connecting Wellness, Equity, and Business—but it wasn’t until that morning that I realized these three pillars weren’t separate passions. They were the very foundation of who I was and what I was called to do.
Wellness gave me grounding.
Equity gave me purpose.
Business gave me freedom.
Together, they formed a transformational ecosystem that could support women and girls at every stage of life. W.E.B.™ wasn’t designed as a program—it emerged as a movement, a pathway for healing, confidence, education, entrepreneurship, and generational change.
In 2025, I officially launched The W.E.B.™ as a coaching and consulting platform dedicated to promoting wellness, advancing gender equity, encouraging education, fostering entrepreneurship, and preparing women and girls to thrive in a competitive global economy.
The Role of Education: A Mother’s Motivator
Though entrepreneurship came first, education eventually became deeply personal.
My own academic journey was far from traditional—I spent years taking courses, withdrawing, returning, and trying to find my footing. The true motivation to master the education process came later, when I became a mother determined to give my children every opportunity possible.
With my identical twins, I wanted to ensure they were prepared—emotionally, academically, and strategically. We joined an academic enrichment program, and I immersed myself in everything: test prep, college tours, scholarships, essays, financial aid, campus support systems, and more.
We visited nearly 100 colleges before they graduated.
Parents began calling me for help, and I realized families needed guidance.
This insight gave birth to The Business of Education™, the educational wing of my work—designed to help students navigate their academic journeys with confidence and clarity.
Public Service: Extending the Vision
In 2021, I stepped into public service as a candidate for the Onondaga County Legislature, District 14. With roots in both Syracuse and the Town of Clay, my community connections ran deep. My platform centered on Children and Family Services, Healthcare, Education, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and the Environment.
Running for office wasn’t just a campaign—it was a continuation of my life’s work: connecting people, building bridges, and advocating for the underserved.
Where I Stand Today
Today, as the Principal Owner of Global Leadership Consulting, I lead with a holistic philosophy:
Transformation begins at the intersection of wellness, equity, and business.
Through coaching, consulting, writing, speaking, and framework development, I guide individuals, families, and organizations toward self-awareness, innovation, and sustained success. I believe in equipping women and girls with the power to:
- Understand themselves deeply
- Navigate systems confidently
- Challenge inequity boldly
- Build businesses intentionally
- Lead with clarity and purpose
My plan is simple:
Inspire, empower, and mobilize.
My personal motto reflects the core of my work and my soul:
“Inspire individuals to pursue self-discovery, empower them to be innovative, progressive, and revolutionary in thought, and motivate them to be global activists.”
This is more than my story.
This is the heartbeat of the W.E.B. Framework™—a movement born from healing, faith, lived experience, and an unwavering belief in the power of women and girls to transform the world.
